Karen E. Hoover

Author of The Wolfchild Saga, The Misadventures of a Teenage Wizard series, Newtimber series, Love Notes series, and Dakota Bound series.

My earliest memories are of my daddy reading to me as a young child, the rumble of his chest beneath my ear as he recited the poem Jabberwocky and read the rhymes of Dr. Seuss. Words have been important to me, it seems forever, and it seems perfectly normal that I would grow up to write my own stories. I've written a couple of romance series, but my favorite thing to write about is Fantasy! Dragons and wizards and shapeshifting animals--they all have a place in my books. Come. Take a look around and see what you can see. Welcome to my world!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Storyteller at Heart

Karen E. Hoover has been writing for most of her life, either creating small, hand-stapled booklets, team-writing with her brother as a teenager, or birthing full novels as an adult. She has been blessed to learn the craft of writing at the feet of some of the masters, including Brandon Sanderson and Tracy Hickman, but gained must of her understanding of writing while attending the LDStorymakers Writers Conference between 2006 and 2009. She placed four times in the three years she entered their First Chapter Contest, ending 2009 with a grand prize win and an offer for publication.

Teaching is one of her greatest joys, and because of it she has presented at many local conferences, including L.T.U.E., CONduit, The Storymakers Writing Conference, The Teen Writer’s Conference, and Write Here in Ephraim. She has also spoken in classrooms at several schools throughout the state, and co-sponsored an after school writing club for teens in her home town.

Karen is the author of thirteen books, with many more to come. Five in The Wolfchild Saga (The Sapphire Flute, The Armor of Light, The Emerald Wolf, The Amethyst Eye, and The Ruby Heart), one book in The Misadventures of a Teenage Wizard series (Two Souls Are Better Than One,) and  Newtimber: Fractured. She has also published a book of poems, three books under her pen name, Raine Gillespie, and two under her pen name Liza Westbrook. She lives in Tooele, Utah with her husband, her dog, three and a half cats, and multiple strays that live in her garage.

The Ruby Heart

Pre-order your copy! Available November 30, 2023

It's here! It's here! It's here! The Ruby Heart is ready!

Initially, I had planned on The Wolfchild Saga to be a five book series, but as I reached the half-way point of book five and was already 80,000 words in, I realized I needed to split it. And if I split book five, then I also needed to split book four. So, now a five book series has become seven! The Ruby Heart is now book 5 with The Hidden Coin becoming book 6, and finally The Crystal Mallet being the final book in the series. Book 6 is done with the first draft and I'm half way through book 7, so one book to go, and I will release them just as fast as my sweet little editor can go.

Thanks for the patient waiting, my friends. It's worth the wait. I promise.

Love and Hugs,

Karen

Seven keystones with seven bearers, but only one who wields all the colors of magic and can bring them together to save their dying world—

Ember Shandae.

Tasked by the Guardians to heal the net of magic that holds Rasann together, she has one very big problem . . . she has little control of the magic she bears, and using it often has disastrous consequences.

Still learning to control her magic, Ember must trust the keystone compass to lead her down perilous paths to find the Amethyst Eye, then find the one who will use it. Sounds easy enough, except nothing about this quest has been easy.

Kayla, Ember’s cousin and bearer of the blue keystone, joins with a reclusive race of shifters to search for the Great Dragon Mother, and together they might just discover the key to releasing the red keystone.

And the red . . . the red is held by her greatest enemy, and prying it from him could be more than just a challenge.

It could mean death for them all.
